What we assess

We consider purpose, material, operating principle, processing stage and completeness, recording the technical basis and open questions. A classification recommendation is not a customs authority’s advance ruling.

What to prepare

  • Technical description and photographs
  • Composition, purpose and operating principle
  • Drawings, catalogue and specification

What you receive

A recommended classification with technical rationale and a list of approval-document checks.

Supporting a classification with product characteristics

Classification starts with function, materials, composition, operating principle and degree of completion. For a set, we examine how it is supplied and used. Trade names and supplier codes are starting information requiring verification.

The agreed deliverable identifies classification characteristics, the proposed code and missing information. A consultancy assessment is not an advance ruling by customs. Where classification is disputed, the formal confirmation route is considered separately.

Service questions

Can a code be determined from a photograph?

A photo helps, but technical details, composition and intended use are usually needed for a defensible assessment.

Does a customs code identify every compliance requirement?

No. Technical, sanitary and other applicable requirements must also be assessed.
